AFAS: setting up the App Connector and GetConnectors (and why fields are missing)

Edited

AFAS Profit only shares data through GetConnectors: saved queries that define exactly which fields and records are returned. Apideck reads AFAS through the GetConnectors your customer imports into their App Connector. So if a GetConnector is missing, filtered or lacks a field, Apideck can't return that data.

The full step-by-step guide is the AFAS connection guide.

Setting it up (HRIS)

  1. Create an App Connector in AFAS Profit: General → Management → App Connector → New. Name it "Apideck" and keep Automatically generate a token and Create a new user group checked.

  2. Import Apideck's GetConnectors in the wizard's GetConnectors step with Actions → Import, using the ZIP file linked in the connection guide. For HRIS, Apideck uses three:

GetConnector

Used for

Employees

The employee list. It decides which employees appear.

Employment_data

Each employee's details, and the source of custom fields

Organization_Chart

Departments

  1. Give the user group rights to the HR data: General → Management → Authorisation tool → Group maintenance, then enable HRM – Werkgevers and HRM – Medewerkers.

  2. Connect in Vault with the environment name (for example 12345.rest) and the token, including its XML tags. AFAS shows the token only once.

Why employees or fields are missing

  • An employee isn't in the list: the Employees GetConnector has a filter that excludes them. Check its filters in AFAS.

  • A field is empty: the field isn't in the GetConnector. Add it to Employment_data (its Data step) in AFAS. No change is needed in Apideck.

  • A 403 on a resource: that GetConnector isn't imported, or the App Connector's user group has no rights to it.

  • You renamed a GetConnector: enter the new name in the optional connector-name settings of the connection in Vault.

HRIS is read-only for AFAS, so you don't need UpdateConnectors for it. Accounting writes do use UpdateConnectors, and they're listed in the connection guide.

AFAS token deadline

AFAS is ending its classic tokens: they get an end date on 15 February 2027 and stop working on 31 August 2027. Keep an eye on the AFAS connector page for what this means for existing connections.
